Today’s Andy Rooney cranky moment is brought to you by my recent interaction with someone who decided to use their middle name and abbreviate their first name.
Maybe it was the context of our interaction, but something became very clear. I don’t like it. Not at a fair, not in a plane, not on a stair, and certainly not by Jane. No sir. I’m also not a fan of folks wearing flip flops on their way to and from work, but that’s a post for another day, Tangent aside how am I supposed to address my hypothetical “D. Smith Graves”? Dear D.? How about just going by the name your folks or Skynet actually gave you in the order they issued it? It’s sort of a big deal for them. Or wait for it, how about just change the order legally, and then I don’t have to start out wondering whether it’s Dear D. Smith or Dear Smith. This protocol D. Smith shenanigan makes no sense, and it turns me into R. Annoyed rather quickly.
Too petty? What are your thoughts?
