As many of you know or to those of you who are new arrivals to this site I was without the use of my 2014 TDI Jetta Sportwagen from July through September 2015. After a quick request to Volkswagen of America (read many-many -many-many requests/pleadings) they eventually agreed to buy it back after a summer road trip odyssey which left me stranded, twice (see previous posts and page). And now they have once again gotten back in my good graces, and Christmas card list with settling up for the TDI. Yes dear reader I’ve received compensation from VOA for the “misunderstanding” with the whole TDI thing*.
My experience was pretty straightforward with only one glitch that delayed my settlement by 2-3 days. Overall I know many other TDI owners out there have experienced, and are experiencing long delays and frustrating interactions with Volkswagen personnel brought on to specifically handle the court ordered process of for compensating the owners or updating their diesel vehicles.
So in summation, thank you VOA. While I still drive another Volkswagen model, and quite like it, I only wish diesels weren’t at the center of the controversy since folks in the US will have to wait much longer, if ever, to get another shot at finding out how wonderful diesels COULD have been.
