You’ve heard it before, “never do something while you’re upset or it will only compound the problem” or some similar iteration, right? I went about trying to prove that saying this weekend. The only thing is, I wasn’t aware of it at the time, until immediately afterwards as is so often the case for people. The incident began simply an act of removing a lone fly from my bathroom, and it ended up with a 3 hour visit to a local emergency room that was totally preventable had I just exercised some restraint. I saw the fly, and swung to strike it from my airspace no-fly zone. On the face of it it seemed straightforward, right? In the process of smiting the fly I smote EDIT: liken it to blowing on a dandelion flower and dispersing the seed spores, but instead of the soft spores soaring on the wind, replace the spores with shards of glass the light fixture overhead both the fly and myself causing glass to rain down upon us both. Not my ideal way to spend an afternoon if I’m honest.
The takeaway is that sometimes the sayings that people repeat over and over are true, and don’t feel the need to disprove them yourself. I took one for the team, but I didn’t know I was playing.
