Disclaimer, I’ve liked the Volkswagen-Audi brand for several years. Having said that, The Washington Post is reporting today that the German luxury brand has suffered a PR crisis stemming from an ad running in China.
Now, I’m not sure where this Audi commercial falls exactly among the three choices in the title above, but I think it’s safe to say it’s not in the first category. Audi says in the article that the commercial was produced by a joint venture partner.

Their current slogan of “Advancement Through Technology” may temporarily be replaced by, “Regression Through Insensitivity”. Any fallout for the brand remains to be seen.
